| | Training camp in Stegersbach, Day 5: At full speed against fatigue
| | | | [19.07.] It doesn´t happen often that players are applauded for completing a running session in football. But the coordination and sprint drill on Monday morning must have impressed the fans gathered at the training ground in Stegersbach so much that they gave the BVB players a round of applause following an exhausting 90 minutes of hard work. | | | Johannes Vorspohl reporting from Stegersbach
On Sunday Jürgen Klopp said that he wanted to improve his players´ "fatigue resistance" in the next couple of days. On Monday morning the fans found out want he meant by that: the combined coordination and sprint drill the BVB players had to complete at the training ground of local team SV Stegersbach lasted a solid 90 minutes.

This intensive drill impressed the fans so much that they gave the exhausted BVB players a round of applause afterwards.
And even though this drill was done with the ball, Tamas Hajnal called it "brutal". "We ran close to 11 kilometres. We all had to clench our teeth," said the Hungarian, stressing the importance of pushing oneself to the limit in training. "We are in the pre-season and drills like this are part of it. Only this way we can charge up our batteries for a hopefully long season with many games."
In the evening, the team then practiced one-on-ones and quick transitions with two assigned players. After the tough morning training session, the players, after loosing the ball, needed to show a strong will to stay hard on the heels of the other one, following him over the entire pitch.
In the meantime, team manager Fritz Lünschermann confirmed what the crowd at the training ground must have thought: the mood in the team is great, in spite of the intensive training. "We made the right choice with the hotel. The players like it here a lot," said Lünschermann, adding that the regeneration and entertainment facilities at the "Balance Resort" were outstanding. And to give the players a change of scenery, a team excursion is planned in the next couple of days, though Lünschermann wouldn´t reveal the destination. Given the current temperatures in Austria, it will most likely go somewhere with water.
On Tuesday three training sessions are scheduled.
