| | | Sebastian Kehl back in training - Sven Bender hopes to return to action | | | | [4.02.] While Sven Bender has at least an outside chance to return to action on Sunday (1730 CET), Jakub "Kuba" Blaszczykowski is very unlikely to appear in Sunday´s home game against Eintracht Frankfurt. "He is almost certainly ruled out," said Jürgen Klopp on Thursday, though he still hasn´t given up hope that Kuba could "somehow make it." | | | | | Sven Bender | "I feel a lot better. And I did not have any negative reaction after my first jogging session," said Sven Bender after testing the knee´s strength for the first time again - with an intensity that prompted the following statement from his coach: "He ran his laps at a pace that even I could keep up with." In a more serious tone, he added: "I hope he´s able to return on Sunday."
Lucas Barrios missed Thursday´s training with a "dead leg", and Felipe Santana also did not take part in it. But a relieved Jürgen Klopp said about the injured Brazilian: "The foot is not as swollen as before. That´s a good sign."
Sebastian Kehl is also seeing the light at the end of the tunnel again after participating in parts of training on Wednesday. "He´s making progress," said Klopp about his skipper who sat out practice on Thursday. "We don´t want to rush things. He trained alone today." Kehl has been out injured since the start of the season. In October 2009 he underwent surgery to remove inflamed scar tissue from the adductor tendons. |
